Aaaaah. It’s fall and need to sell your house fast. You’re getting your home ready by following all of these basic staging techniques:
- De-cluttering by packing away extra furniture pieces, extra décor (or dare I say “knick knacks”?).
- De-personalizing by removing your family photos, religious and political items.
- Neutralizing by replacing bold colors on your walls and in your décor with softer, neutral tones.
- Cleaning your entire house like you’ve never cleaned before.
And you’re addressing the exterior of the house through The Great Annual Fall Cleanup, which means raking the leaves, trimming back bushes, pulling any weeds or saplings and adding fresh mulch.
Fall is a time when we tend to pull out our throw blankets, light our pumpkin spice candles, do a little extra decorating and maybe start the first fire of the year. While it is perfectly fine to indulge in these favorite fall activities, when you are preparing to sell your house fast, doing it the right way will not only bring you joy but also enhance your home’s appeal while it is on the market.
Remember to follow the basic staging techniques and keep it clutter free and simple. Change out your summer floral arrangements for new arrangements in fall colors. Add splashes burnt oranges, reds and yellows where appropriate. The easiest way decorate for fall is to simply change out throw pillows, candles and floral arrangements throughout your home. Drape a beautiful throw across the side chair in the family room or across the bottom of your bed. Clean out your fireplace and add some fresh wood to it. Enjoy lighting your pumpkin spice candles or using plug in air fresheners in fall fragrances; just be sure to keep all of the fragrances the same.
Lastly, nothing brings us the joy of fall like mums. If you have a front yard, plant them in the ground. If you have a porch, place several potted mums around in varying heights. Or, you can simply put two mums on each side of your door next to a new, neutral welcome mat. If you have a beautiful front door wreath, go ahead and hang it, as long as it coordinates well with the colors of your mums!
Now, your fall staging will bring you joy as well as make your home super appealing to the buyers who walk through it on a crisp fall day.
